Welcome to the homepage for the Guitar Society of Northern Colorado. We meet on the 3rd Monday of every month at Spotlight Music in Ft. Collins. That’s located on the southwest corner of Harmony and College. Meeting hours are from 6 pm to 8 pm in the cafe at the entrance.
We welcome stringed instruments of all kinds and include fingerstyle playing ranging from classical, folk, blues, bluegrass, and most other types of music. We also have members who are luthiers who regularly demonstrate their new guitars which oftentimes include new innovations. Other luthiers in the area are encouraged to attend and bring their instruments. We welcome players of all ages, including students at all levels and urge parents of players to attend meetings with their students.
Our meeting format is to spend the first hour discussing topics related to guitars, playing, guitar history and current events. The second hour of the meeting is set aside for playing and performing, and testing new guitars by the luthiers.
During past meetings we have had several guest guitarists do programs ranging from flamenco guitar technique to steel string bluegrass playing. In the past the society has sponsored classical guitar concerts in Loveland and Ft. Collins but at present we do not have any concerts planned.
We have elected officers including president, treasurer, program director, and member-at-large, and all members are encouraged to run for office. Elections for officers are held in the Fall meetings. At this time you may contact the president at the email: kenetCGuitarist@gmail.com however that will be changing as we create new email lists.
We are sister organizations with the Cheyenne Guitar Society, The Boulder Guitar Society, the Denver Guitar Workshop, the Denver Acoustic Music Society, and the Colorado Springs Guitar Society. Also we have a page on Facebook named Guitar Society of Northern Colorado, which is an excellent source of information while our website is being rebuilt.
Come on out and join with us in the world of guitar! Bring your guitars and play, or just come and listen.
